An Evidence into Action workstream is currently being developed within the PHRU. Its aim is to inform public health policies, practice, programmes and projects within NHSGGC through the production of evidence reviews. Working across the PHRU functions, reviews will retrieve and appraise published evidence within specified topic areas. Where available and appropriate, they will also include information on related local initiatives and statistical information. Implications for training and practice will be identified and addressed.
The Research & Evaluation team will contribute to Evidence in to Action by appraising literature and summarising key points.
Topics for review will reflect NHSGGC strategic objectives. They may be initiated proactively from within the PHRU or in response to requests from NHSGGC staff. Reviews will be disseminated through the PHRU Knowledge Exchange function.
Details of Evidence in to Action as a cross-cutting PHRU workstream are still being developed but some work of this kind has been undertaken within the R&E team around the topics of: suicide prevention; parental substance misuse; and vulnerable young men.
Evidence reviews can be labour intensive and so capacity for this work is limited. Suggestions for topics or specific requests will be considered by the PHRU Evidence in to Action Group contactresearch@ggc.scot.nhs.uk
